“Annie”: Just What’s Happening?
After auditioning scores and scores of kids, James Lapine, I hear, still hasn’t found his moppet to star in the Broadway revival of “Annie” slated for next fall. But the show, about triumphing over Depression-era hardship, apparently still has a topical kick. At least, in this other new production, pictured. Speaking of “Annie,” whatever happened to the big-screen version that Jay-Z and Will Smith were hatching to showcase the talents of Will’s “Whip My Hair” Willow? If they don’t hurry, she’ll be too old. She’s 11 going on 40 as it is.
