John Waters: Top 10 Movies of 2011
I can’t say I agree with much of his list, although I heartily concur that Almodovar’s “The Skin I Live In” (pictured) was the arthouse flick of the year — not Lars von Trier’s “Melancholia,” which is mostly pretentious dreck. Waters includes some perverse choices: a documentary about Justin Bieber. Waters also hearts “The Tree of Life,” saying, “You’d think I’d hate this film, and I almost did—until I realized it’s the best New Age, heterosexual, Christian movie of the year.”
