Dear Miss Gray Passes Away
I remember fondly — “fondly” is such an auntie word, isn’t it? — the 1996 production of “An Ideal Husband” in which Dulcie Gray, then 80, and her husband, Michael Denison, equally 80, made their Broadway debuts. Miss Gray has died, going to that great drawing-room comedy in the sky. (I’m hoping Heaven’s not a drawing-room comedy, actually. Gray and Denison look smart when dressed for dinner; I don’t.)
