20 Years Since Magic’s HIV News
Twenty years ago, I was scheduled to interview Magic Johnson in the wake of his announcement that he was HIV-positive. But I hit the hospital with a ruptured appendix, and the interview never happened. I’ve always regretted missing that moment, so am happy to salute Magic on the twentieth anniversary of that big news — the kind of news which, thankfully in the years since, has become less newsworthy with the success of HIV treatments.
