Gheorghiu Duets With Maria Callas
New technologies have made it possible for Angela Gheorghiu to record a duet with legendary soprano Maria Callas. (The mind reels at all the possible pairings: Joan Sutherland with Andrea Bocelli. Marilyn Horne with Hank Williams, Jr. And my most fervently desired: Leontyne Price with James Brown.) The Gheorghiu/Callas track, the Habanera from Bizet’s “Carmen,” has been recorded as a special bonus for Gheorghiu’s new studio album “Homage to Maria Callas” and can be accessed by buying the deluxe edition now or the iTunes download edition next week, but the Guardian has it here.
