Fashion Illustrations Up For Auction
A selection of work by the late haute couture illustrator Rene Gruau, commissioned by the influential fashion editor Fleur Cowles, forms part of Christie’s 20th Century Decorative Art & Design auction. Gruau (1909-2004) was an artist favored by the world’s most renowned fashion houses, including Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Balmain and Lanvin. Cowles redesigned ‘Look’ magazine and founded the innovative ‘Flair’ magazine, to which Gruau contributed.
