Memorials For Steve Jobs, Liz Taylor

The two most significant American-celebrity deaths of 2011 have been Steve Jobs and Elizabeth Taylor. But while there was major media coverage of yesterday’s memorial for Jobs, there was minimal coverage for yesterday’s memorial for Taylor, probably because she died months ago and the media caravan has moved on. I suspect that this is how Elizabeth would have preferred it: a relatively quiet memorial, with family and friends. In attendance on the Warner Bros. lot, where the ceremony took place, were Taylor’s four children (Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton) and friends such as Colin Farrell and Elton John. Next up in the Taylor post-mortem story: the auction of her jewelry, which kicks off at an evening sale in New York, at Christie’s, on December 13.
