Google Tells You A Celebrity’s Sexual Orientation (Even Tom Cruise’s)
So, Google has a weird new thing going on: the search engine will now supply (for some people) the best guess as to their sexual orientation before even the top result when you start to search “Is [celebrity] so-and-so gay?” It’s very flattering that the company understands and appreciates one of the top reasons people use Google, but the hierarchy can be puzzling. Neil Patrick Harris‘s results run in this order: “Is Neil Patrick Harris gay?” followed by “Is Neil Patrick Harris gay or bi?” But for Tom Cruise the results run a little differently: “Is Tom Cruise Gay?” is immediately followed by “Is Tom Cruise Really Gay?” followed by “Is the Pope Catholic?” and “Is water wet?”
