“J. Edgar”: Not Until November
While most of the major autumn movie-awards contenders have been unspooling at film festivals this month, there’s one possibility that won’t bow until November 3: that’s Clint Eastwood‘s “J. Edgar,” a biopic about Gay Edgar Hoover, the longtime head of the FBI, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This would seem to be Oscar bait for DiCaprio finally winning Best Actor, but Clint’s movies generally yield Oscars for performers in fictional roles (Hilary Swank, Gene Hackman) not for performers in biopics (Forrest Whitaker, Morgan Freeman).
