Conservatives Hate Meryl’s New Pic
Any time conservatives get their knickers in a twist is a day worth celebrating. Latest cause for cheering: Some Tories in Britain are offended by the upcoming movie, “The Iron Lady,” starring Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher. They object to its factual inaccuracies (since when are biopics accurate?) and to its portrait of Thatcher as “granny gone mad.” All this blustering just increases my appetite to see the film, to be released in December. Final delight: in one scene Thatcher’s husband, the long-suffering Denis, turns up in a dream sequence while wearing a pink turban. I’m there.
