Amenemhat II Arrives At The Met
For me, the vast entry hall at the Metropolitan Museum of Art never again will be as grand as it was when a statue of Perseus presided over the front doors from the balcony. I must say, however, that I now enjoy going in a little more, what with the addition of a 4,000-year-old pharoah to the hall. He has belonged to Berlin’s Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection since 1837. But the courtyard in Germany over which he usually presides is under reconstruction, so he will be a guest in New York for the next 10 years. Wilkommen, Bienvenu, Welcome!
