“War Horse” Author: New Movie

Scroll down in this report past the Dakota Fanning story and you’ll get to the real news: Michael Morpugo, whose “War Horse” novel became a hit stage production in London and New York and will soon be seen in Steven Spielberg’s movie adaptation, has another property about to be adapted for the big screen. Up-and-coming actors Jack O’Connell and George MacKay (pictured) will play the leads in the film version of Morpurgo’s 1982 novel, “Private Peaceful,” about two farm-labouring brothers, Charlie and Tommo Peaceful, who leave Devon to enlist to fight in World War I. One of them is court martialled for cowardice. Pat O’Connor will direct and the cast will include Richard Griffiths and Frances de la Tour, who delighted audiences in “The History Boys.”
