“Pimp My Ride”: The Legacy
Remember “Pimp My Ride”? That TV show, which premiered in 2004, changed pimping from the fur coat-wearing, homburg-sporting, cuban heels-rocking preserve of the 1970s exploitation film to something seedy and illegal to something appallingly expensive and vaguely pointless. The show also keeps spawning shows around the world — my favorite is “Trick My Truck.”
