Your Weekend: LW Recommends
Movies: “The Change-Up” sounds like the wrong kind of raunchy, while “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” continues James Franco’s post-Oscar-hosting curse. I’m saving up instead to see “The Help,” opening Wednesday. Television: You know we’re in the dog days of summer when “Big Rich Texas” sounds like the most promising show of the weekend. Yeah, I will watch a rerun of the going-to-Italy premiere of “Jersey Shore” — but only for a minute. Books: Doesn’t look as if there will be a 4th book in Stieg Larsson’s Salander series, so all you’ll all have to read “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” again. Music: My time this week in the heartland has got me listening to “Appalachian Stomp: Bluegrass Classics.” I’m also getting a taste of Tony Bennett’s upcoming “Duets II” CD, featuring Tony and Gaga singing “The Lady Is A Tramp.” Sports: I wish I felt better about the Yankees’ chances in this weekend’s series in Boston, but the Sox have their number. Finally: The kids will be going back to school any minute, so enjoy your time with them while you can.
