Da Vinci Show: “Mona Lisa” Too?
An upcoming blockbuster devoted to Leonardo da Vinci will run for three months, but it took years to put together. Museums all over the world are lending masterpieces. The “Mona Lisa”, you ask? No way! That’s staying put at the Louvre. Its history when lent — it was sprayed red by a vandal in Tokyo in 1974 — is too dicey. Yet its most famous incident came in 1911, when it was stolen from the Louvre itself and not recovered for two years.
