A Plague Of Child-Star Wannabes
America has always had its child stars, thrust forward by their Mama Roses into the spotlight. But the Internet and cable TV have made the phenomenon so much worse. For every legitimate new Judy Garland (not that there are any) there are a thousand wannabes. And they’re not waiting for the day when they’re old enough to join the queue for auditions on “American Idol” or “America’s Got Talent.” No, they have their own vehicles. The most appalling example is “Toddlers and Tiaras” on TLC: kiddie porn if ever I saw it. Every once in a while, though, when I stop thwowing up from these shows, a see a true cutie vying for attention. Such is the Mini-Warbler, shown in the video above. He was performing this past weekend at Comic-Con in San Diego. Do you think he understands all the lyrics to the song, “Teenage Dream,” that his back-ups are singing? “Let’s go all the way“: is that in a five-year-old’s vocabulary these days?
