King Drawn To “Lord Of The Flies”
Each time I think that Stephen King is too populist a writer to appeal to me, I’m reminded of contrary evidence. This weekend, for example, I got sucked into a viewing of “The Shawshank Redemption” for the umpteenth time, and only when the credits roll do I remember that the flick is based on a novella by King. The author tells a new interviewer that “Lord of the Flies” (pictured) — another fiction-based movie on the tube over the weekend — was the book that inspired his belief in novels as acts of pure imagination.
