“Downton Abbey 2”: First Pics
Because I happen to know that there are a lot of “Downton Abbey” fans among LW’s readership, I’m interrupting your weekend to share a couple of on-set pix from the new season, which will be shown late this year in the U.K. and beginning January 8th on PBS. Here we see Laura Carmichael and Dame Maggie Smith. In the new season, World War One begins, and everybody gets drawn into the conflict: Downton eventually becomes a convalescent home. (Dame Maggie’s character must be horrified!) Meanwhile, Blake Morrison explains why English country-house settings continue to prove so popular.
