“Super 8”: Super Spielbergian Movie?
“Super 8,” the retro-Spielbergian summer flick (produced by the man himself), is racking up some good reviews (here and here). Todd McCarthy calls it “an engaging return trip to Steven Spielberg’s youthful world of wonder courtesy of J.J. Abrams.” As one who saw those early Spielberg models as a youngster, I’m not sure I need to sit through the wonder again.
