Why So Much Grief For Hetherington?
The death of the excellent photographer Tim Hetherington in Libya is very sad. At the same time, have you noticed that when one of their own dies under fire that the mainstream media goes into grief overload the way they almost never do when a soldier or civilian dies? Are “regular” lives not as interesting and worthy of our attention? Do we only find war horrible when a good-looking white reporter is decimated?
