Tribeca Fest: 25 Films To Consider
I generally go to movies at the Tribeca Film Festival, which opens this week in New York, only when I have friends involved with the wares on display. Last year, it was “Spork,” directed by J.B. Ghuman, Jr., who won a big prize. This year, it’s the documentary “Carol Channing: Larger Than Life.” You know Carol Channing: she’s the iconic Broadway star who Johnny Depp wants to play in the movies and who once said of her trademark gravelly voice, “I think I sound just like everybody else!” In the documentary, Carol tells a lot of dirty stories about her costars. You thought she was as prim and proper as Julie Andrews? Well, guess what? Julie likes telling dirty stories too!
