Your Weekend: LW Recommends
Television: After the letdown of the final episodes of “The Kennedys” last week and the bodice-ripping tendencies of the last episode of “The Borgias,” I plan to take refuge in “Upstairs Downstairs” (second episode on Sunday) and “Friday Night Lights,” whose final season is being rebroadcast starting tonight on NBC. Movies: Robert Redford’s “The Conspirator” and the Italian “The Double Hour” certainly look like the best of the new lot. Books: There’s no way I’d go near Shirley MacLaine’s memoir, “I’m Over All That” (I’m over memoirs by Shirley MacLaine), but I was amused by her telling Oprah this week that she once had three men in one day. Slut! Sports: The Knicks begin their playoff run on Sunday versus the Celtics. Knicks’ loyalists claim that Boston’s geriatric and the Knicks have a chance. Hmm. Music: I’m loving “Paper Airplane,” the new CD by Alison Krauss and Union Station. Also digging the new CD of Strauss lieder by Diana Damrau. Finally: Don’t forget to file your tax return by Monday.
