“Bette And Joan” To Bow In London
Michael Riedel — the gayest straight man on the New York theatre scene — recently reported that “Bette and Joan,” Malcolm McKay’s new play about the prickly relationship between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, was given a reading in New York starring Christine Ebersole and Jan Maxwell. But London will have the first production, at the Arts Theatre in May, starring Greta Scacchi and Anita Dobson.
