More “Mockingbird”; Where’s Alec?
There’s a new touring production of “To Kill A Mockingbird” in Britain. When oh when will this adaptation of the unforgettable Harper Lee novel make it to Broadway? Director Michael Wilson tried recently with his excellent production for Hartford Stage. But Lee was unrelenting, apparently, and that staging’s star, Matthew Modine, while terrific in the role, is probably not a big enough name to sell tickets. Do you know who’d sell out every night as Atticus Finch on Broadway? Alec Baldwin. It could be the Tony award he’s been lusting after for all these years.
