“The Day The Movies Died”

day-movies-died_628Mark Harris has a pretty brilliant piece in the the new GQ called “The Day the Movies Died.” He’s talking of Hollywood, of course, since wonderful movies continue to be made around the world. Scariest quote in Harris’s article: “It’s hard to hold out much hope when you hear the words that one studio executive, who could have been speaking for all her kin, is ready to chisel onto Hollywood’s tombstone: “We don’t tell stories anymore.” Instead, they make narratively chaotic fare like “The Matrix Revolutions” that the under-25s go ape-shit for.
