Tiger, LeBron Drop In Rankings
Tiger Woods has lost his status as the world’s “most powerful athlete” on Bloomberg Businessweek’s annual “Power 100” ranking to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. Woods has lost a range of sponsors since reports of his extra-marital affairs first surfaced. He still managed to earn $71.3 million last year, ahead of all other athletes and fellow golfer Phil Mickelson who made $53.8 million. Basketball star LeBron James is also among the big losers on the list after enraging fans with his move to Miami. After ranking second last year, he is now no. 11 on the Bloomberg BusinessWeek power list. Maybe he should have come to New York; on second thought, the Knicks beat LeBron and the Heat last night, so maybe New York didn’t need, or want, him after all.
