The classical music world may be shrinking, but, thanks to technology, music itself has never been more ever-present. (Too much so, if you ask me. When was the last time you went shopping anywhere and encountered silence in a store?) Music is so powerful, scientists keep telling us, because it’s a drug — or helps produce one. Music makes the brain release a chemical, dopamine, that gives pleasure.
