Bono Will Sit Through Every Preview
EW reports: “Julie [Taymor] and Bono and Edge … will be in the theater next week and for all of the preview performances leading up to the opening night working on the show.†Why? Apparently, to fine-tune “Spider-Man” as it continues slouching toward a February 7 opening on Broadway. In reality, they will be there to prove that the mega-musical causes no bodily harm. And in deepest, darkest truth, the rockers will be there to continue goosing the box office for the production, which needs to sell out every night for four years to recoup its $65 million investment. Tourists will alight not just for the potential thrill of being injured by performers falling from the sky but in hopes of a quick smartphone snap of the Cool Irish Dudes.
