This isn’t a bad list, but the late-night shake-up on NBC as the top story of the year? I know that millions of people still watch Leno and Conan, but choosing them as the most significant topic in entertainment feels mildly depressing, as if the culture were more dumbed-down than ever. Numbers 2 and 3 — “Avatar” and the arrival of iPad — were more significant in my opinion.
