Ratmansky’s “Nutcracker”: Preview
“The Nutcracker” is one of the few parts of Christmas for which I have any genuine affection, so I’ve been reading Alastair Macaulay’s dispatches from the Toy Soldier front in the New York Times with pleasure. However, I think all this “Nutcracker” info is sending me into a sugar coma. (Poor Alastair must have blood levels rising sufficiently to ring diabetic alarms daily.) While the hordes are gorging on the hosanna’d return of Mark Morris’s “Hard Nut” to BAM, the aficionados are more eager for the premiere of Alexei Ratmansky’s “Nutcracker” (excerpt above) later this month at the same venue.
