Depp: Disney Hated “Gay” Sparrow
It was inspired to have Patti Smith interview Johnny Depp for the new Vanity Fair. The supposedly news-making tidbit from the piece, however, is hardly news. Depp has said in the past that Disney hated his Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean” for being too gay. The only new twist in the VF piece is Depp saying that when the Disney executive asked if he, Depp, was playing Sparrow gay, Depp replied, “All my characters are gay,” providing further evidence, as if we didn’t know already, that Johnny Depp is the coolest movie star on the planet.
