“Spidey” Survives First Preview

I’ve said it many, many times: anyone who goes to the first preview of a new Broadway musical and expects anything other than semi-chaos is an idiot! The whole point of previews is to work out the kinks. That said, the first preview of what some are calling the Hindenburg of musicals, “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” was held last night on Broadway. There were plenty of technical problems; many of the show’s already-legendary special effects were absent, and multiple actors were left dangling above the audience for awkward amounts of time. At one point, the stage manager took to the loud speaker to congratulate a dangling actress. I hope she survived!
