Gays Voted More Republican

Please allow me a non-artsy comment here. Exit polls for the House races this week show that the GOP captured 31 percent of the vote of GLBT voters this year, compared to 19 percent in 2008. Explanation: voters are understandably frustrated that Obama and the Democrats didn’t deliver at least one big win for them during the past two years. Plus: gay Repubs keep banging on that many high-profile Republicans (Cheney, Mehlman, Ted Olson) are more gay-friendly than Obama is. Well, guess what? Here’s my prediction: not one of the Republicans in the House or Senate is going to vote for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” or for any other gay-friendly measure anytime soon. Republicans and Democrats (Bill Clinton, for example) are very good at being pro-gay when they aren’t in office. Otherwise, nyet. And if those gay Republican groups think they’re going to sway some of the GOP-ers to get with the program soon: I’ve got a bridge to sell them!

  1. The only good Republican is a DEAD Republican. Period. That party of robber barons and idiots should be sent back to England.
