Arts & New Congress: Good News?
Compared to Europe, legislative elections have little effect on direct arts funding in this country (always a pittance), so the Republicans’ victories in the midterms won’t have much fed funding effect on D.C.’s always meagre tax-dollar support of the arts. The upcoming battle about tax rates — and their effect on support to all non-profit enterprises — will be more important to the relationship between the economy and the arts in the next two years.
