Obama’s Gay Video: My Problem
Oh, so now we’re supposed to get all warm and fuzzy about President Obama on gay issues because, like Drew Brees and Adam Lambert, he’s made an “It Gets Better” video against teen bullying? Sorry, Prez, you don’t get a pass in this corner, not when your administration defends anti-gay initiatives in court like the repeals of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and the Defense of Marriage Act. The law teaches, and the laws you’re upholding right now send a message to kids that it is not all right to be gay. When you make pro-gay videos and take anti-gay initiatives you send a message of confusion to everyone, and as those of us who voted for you in 2008 know all too well, a message of confusion — of over-complicated messaging — is exactly what’s been bedeviling your administration in the run-up to the mid-terms.
