“Boardwalk Empire” Begins
I can’t say much yet about “Boardwalk Empire,” which premiered last night on HBO. This is obviously a series that’s going to take it’s time to unwind. Especially since last night’s episode — set in Atlantic City, 1920, as Prohibition is launching the gangster biz into new heights of juicy immorality — jumped right into action and adventure without spending much time setting the scene and establishing characters.
