Harvard Students: Safe & Boring
Last night, a number of mostly older activists greeted Tony Blair’s appearance in Cambridge, Mass. with protests, but few of the activists were students. “I’m disappointed in Harvard,” said one 50-something protester. “During Vietnam this school was a hot bed. Now there’s people my age on the street, and the students don’t even support us.” Yeah, I know: when a year of college costs more than $50,000, who has time to protest? On the other hand, what kind of world is going to greet you after graduation if you don’t? You’ll have to pay back student loans regardless. And if you can’t be an occasional activist and still get your schoolwork done then you need better study habits.
