Godard To Academy: Drop Dead
Why is anybody surprised that Jean-Luc Godard won’t be making the trek to California to pick up his foot-in-the-grave Oscar? These honorary statuettes lost their luster when the Academy decided to award them in November instead of at the main Oscar telecast in late winter. It’s time to reconsider moving them back. To see Hollywood icons show up on that stage for one last bow was sometimes sad but always a welcome reminder of Hollywood’s glory days.
