Mavis Staples: Song For Everyone
On September 14, soul legend Mavis Staples will release a new solo album, “You Are Not Alone,” produced and co-written by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. On it will be an excellently punchy cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Wrote a Song for Everyone,” a melancholy mid-tempo jam from CCR’s 1969 album “Green River.” Mavis performed the single earlier this month at Lollapalooza.
