“Dragon” Lady: Give Her A Chance
Entertainment journalists are already wondering whether director David Fincher should have awarded the plum part of Lisbeth Salander in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” to a relative unknown: Rooney Mara (pictured). The decision looks fine to me: Fincher has worked with her before and thinks she’s talented; he’s smart making Salander a relative unknown, so viewers can concentrate on the character rather than on the star playing her; and, most important, the role for whatever reason didn’t go to the over-rated Natalie Portman. Oh, and nobody’s going to be as right for the part as Noomi Rapace in the Swedish-movie version, anyway.
