Why Remake The Millennium Movies?
Unless you’ve been living in North Korea lately, you’ve probably heard of Stieg Larsson‘s trilogy of Millennium novels. The Swedish-language movie versions of them are already hits around the world, and the second in the series, “The Girl Who Played With Fire,” is released today in the United States. Hollywood, led by producer Scott Rudin, is supposedly going to re-make the flicks. I can tell you one thing with absolute certainty: there is no way in motherfucking hell that Rudin will find anyone better to play the books’ punkish heroine, Lisbeth Salander, than Noomi Rapace (pictured), star of the Swedish films. It would be like trying to re-cast “Taxi Driver” with someone other than DeNiro or “Sophie’s Choice” with someone other than Streep. They shouldn’t even bother.
