As the night follows the day, so a New York Times semi-pan of “The Winter’s Tale” had to follow a rave for “The Merchant of Venice.” Don’t believe them: each production had flaws, each production produced pleasures. My FT elaboration will appear in this weekend’s edition, and I’ll post it Monday.
