Aretha Franklin: “I Sing The Arias”
Meryl Streep may be about to play Margaret Thatcher, but don’t worry: Re-Re isn’t about to impersonate Condi Rice in a movie. But the two are pairing up for a charity concert in Philadelphia. The benefit will include Condi doing Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor, before joining the Queen of Soul to perform classic soul anthems and some opera selections. And why opera selections? Because, as Franklin says: “Ms. Rice is a consummate classical pianist and since I sing the arias, I thought we could do something.”
