“Treme”: A Few First Thoughts

I haven’t said much about the new HBO series “Treme” because I’ve only seen about half the episodes. I’ll say more when I catch up completely later in the summer. With last night’s finale, though, I wanted to say at least that it’s been a very watchable series, certainly as involving as any other new programs this year. My main complaint has been voiced by others: that the post-Katrina New Orleans portrayed on the show has been a city full of people who expect the world to attend to their needs while shunning anyone who doesn’t think that NOLA is the epicenter of the universe. The series prohibits you from loving it, while asking you to value it. But “Treme” has been worth valuing.
