Lea Doing Diva For “Funny Girl”?
I didn’t watch last night’s “Glee” finale. I’m tickled rouge at the show’s success, but I have to confess that I find it more and more difficult to make it through an entire episode, even on tape. Plus, as with any big show-biz success, the plot action has moved on-screen to off-screen: you know, the antics of the cast as reported online by the best friend of the show’s hairdresser who swears that so-and-so is sleeping with So-and-So. Latest dish: Lea Michele is a diva. What news next? Rush Limbaugh is a hypocrite? Shocking! I suspect that Miss Michele is only acting like this because she’s getting in character for what online chatsters are saying will be her stage comeback: the Broadway revival of “Funny Girl” (the Streisand starmaker) that has just been announced. If I were Lea, I wouldn’t polish my rolling-skating skills quite yet: director Bart Sher is not afraid to cast “unknowns” in star parts (cf Paulo Szot, “South Pacific”).
