Will U.S. Ever See “Phillip Morris”?
This story is getting to be longer than a season of “American Idol”: A California District Court judge has issued a preliminary injunction preventing the U.S. release of the indie comedy “I Love You Phillip Morris,” starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. The Glenn Ficarra/John Requa film is about a married man who gets into a car crash, discovers he’s gay and goes on a crime spree that eventually lands him in jail. It was shown in January 2009 at Sundance, has been released throughout much of the Western world, and was supposed to come out in the U.S. in February. Now it looks as if October is the soonest we’ll see it here.
