Teatro Colon Has Gala Re-Opening
The Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, one of the world’s most beautiful opera houses, re-opened this week after almost four years of renovation. I’m glad the place had a facelift. The last time I was there the plaster was literally falling from the ceiling onto people in the top balcony. The acoustics are splendid and the pretentiousness of a rich Buenos Aires crowd (who think they’re more European than the Europeans) can’t be beat.
