Samuel L. Jackson To Play MLK?
Samuel L. Jackson is in New York this week to do a reading of Katori Hall’s play “The Mountaintop.” This drama, set in Martin Luther King, Jr’s hotel room in Memphis the day before he was assassinated, is opening on Broadway in the fall. It would be great to have Jackson on Broadway. But may I point out that King died when he was 39 and Jackson is 61? Theatre doesn’t have close-ups to expose age starkly, but shouldn’t the stage have a least a smidge of verisimilitude?
