“Fair Game” Is Stirring, Suspenseful
Blogger Jeffrey Wells seems to be indicative of the response at Cannes today to “Fair Game,” Doug Liman’s movie — starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts — about outed CIA operative Valerie Plame and her husband, Joe Wilson. Wells call the flick “a stirring, suspenseful, and immensely satisfying adult drama.” If this critical consensus holds up, Watts could join an Oscar derby for Best Actress that’s already getting crowded: Annette Bening and Julianne Moore for “The Kids Are All Right”; Annette Bening for “Mother and Child”; and Tilda Swinton (“I Am Love”). Penn, for his part, is a perennial nominee.
