Cynthia O’Neal’s Must-Read Book
Last night I attended a book party for Cynthia O’Neal’s new memoir, “Talk Softly.” The gathering took place at the SoHo offices of Friends in Deed, the wonderful organization which Cynthia founded with Mike Nichols, who co-hosted the book party with Candice Bergen and Diane Sawyer. “Speak Softly” recounts Cynthia’s early days as an actress and model and provides anecdotes of some of her friendships (with Nureyev, Leonard Bernstein et al). But mostly it is a story of transformation: of how a woman immersed in a world of glamour became a warrior in the fight against AIDS. A wonderful read!
